City to get historic depot (Posted Thu 02:58 pm)
The city of Granbury Thursday acquired the historic railroad depot from Centex Rural Rail District. The deal will become final with legal negotiations between the city of Granbury, Centex, and Fort Worth & Western Railroad. Granbury will pay an estimated $36,000 to repair the depot's leaky roof.
Cross headed to Nazareth (Posted Thu 11:03 am)
Tommy Cross has been named the new girls head basketball coach for the historic Nazareth Swiftettes program. Cross coached the Tolar Lady Rattlers to six playoff appearances, winning no less than 21 games in each of his seven seasons and posting a 164-61 record. He is going to a program that has 18 state championships, the most of any public school in the nation.
Missing 4-H dog returns home (Posted Wed 01:47 pm)
Stephanie Zacharias, member of the Hood County 4-H Dog Project, is one happy young girl. Her black Lab, Hank, who went missing Monday afternoon near Contrary Creek Road, showed up Wednesday afternoon at her doorstep.
Saturday walk benefits Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (Posted Wed 12:14 pm)
The first Granbury 5K Great Strides Walk benefitting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation is planned for Saturday morning. The starting point will be at Granbury City Park, corner of Pearl and Park streets. Check-in will be at 8 a.m., and the walk begins at 9. For registration visit www.cff.org/greatstrides. Beach Body Blast Saturday (Posted Thu 01:57 pm)
The folks at Performance Zone are moving the party outside. The "Beach Body Blast" is planned at the Performance Zone fitness center on Highway 377 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The free event includes a group fitness class for adults, and a bounce house and obstacle course for the kids. Refreshments will be provided. 817-573-7838.
